A Day to Remember: Our Quilters Club Retreat

We recently hosted our Quilters Club Retreat—a vibrant, hands-on event that brought together 40 quilting enthusiasts for a day of creativity, learning, and community. The retreat was free to all who purchased a Grace Company long-arm machine through The Quilted Cow Raymore, and it truly showcased the power of great tools, expert guidance, and a shared passion for quilting.

Hands-On Training Sessions

Our day kicked off with a series of workshops designed to demystify long arm quilting. We dove into the basics of the Cuite Frame, Grace’s intuitive tabletop frame, guiding attendees on how to properly load their quilts and set up for a smooth quilting experience. In our “Frame 101” session on the Evolution Frame, Kristin the Quilter expertly demonstrated loading techniques and offered simple troubleshooting tips to overcome common quilting challenges.  Leveraging over 20 years of quilting expertise, Kristin offered our attendees an enriching experience that went beyond mastering their frame and machine—she taught them the art of becoming exceptional quilters.

Becky Fenske then took the stage to share her passion for free-motion quilting. She provided an engaging session on using the slice ruler, super slide, and mini slide—tools that can elevate any quilting project. Her energy and expertise were infectious, reminding us all that quilting is not only an art but also a powerful way to contribute to communities in need.

Expert-Led Demonstrations

A highlight of the retreat was the demonstration by local quilting virtuoso Larry Christopherson. With an impressive track record of 75 Linus quilts created alongside his wife Margaret, Larry walked the group through his process using the QCT 6 software. His insights into achieving flawless, edge-to-edge continuous quilting left everyone inspired to push their creative boundaries.
